Biography:
Dr. Shan Yu received her Bachelor degree in Biomedical Instrumentation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and her PhD degree in Science of Engineering from University of Nice – Sophia Antipolis in France. After her post-doctoral research work, Dr. Shan Yu joined the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA) as a permenant researcher. From 2000 - 2009, Dr. Yu was on leave from INRIA and worked as a faculty member at Columbia University in the city of New York and at the New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI). She took lead of the work in functional MRI Unit of the Brain Imaging Lab in the Division of Child&Adolescent Psychiatry from 2005 - 2009. Currently, she is an invited forein scientist at LIAMA in the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She served as a program committee member for different international conferences / journals in the past years.

Dr. Shan Yu's research interests are mainly on image analysis and pattern recognition, with applications in a wide range of fields including medical image analysis, remote sensing image interpretation, natural object identification.
